This project explores design and 3D representation. By examining their form, material, and meaning.

Project 1

Module 1

This section documents my formstorming process, focusing on the exploration of shapes, proportions, and materials. It includes photographs and 3D models that study how both primitive and complex objects can be represented and refined through form.

Activity 1

A Rubik’s Cube is a small, colorful 3D puzzle made up of rotating rows and columns of cubes on a six-sided surface, designed to align all faces by color through strategic twists and turns. Alternate view of the Rubik's cube. Rubik's cube made using a cube and cloner modifier. The sides of the cube were selected and coloured. Modeled using a 3×3×3 grid of cubes to represent the cube’s modular structure and precise alignment. The Rubik’s Cube was built using **multiple individual cubes**, carefully positioned in a 3×3×3 formation to reflect its modular design and movable segments. A felt donut pin cushion. A felt donut pin cushion top view. Modeled using a torus shape to capture the circular, padded form of the pin cushion. Modeled with a torus base and added surface details to create a soft, fabric-like appearance. Metal box for index cards Metal box for index cards alternative view Modeled using simple cube and rectangle shapes to form the box and lid structure. Modeled with smooth metal surfaces, rounded edges, and a hinged lid to resemble a real index card storage box. A mini stapler is a compact, handheld tool used to fasten small stacks of paper with metal staples. A mini stapler angled view. Aviator sunglasses feature large and a thin metal frame designed to provide maximum eye coverage. Aviator sunglasses unfolded. Toy figure that I can't remeber where it is from or how I got it. Toy figure angled view. Triangular wedge make up sponge. Triangular wedge make up sponge front view. Squishy stress ball The squishy stress ball was modeled by starting with a sphere and subtracting small indents and surface deformations to mimic the look of pressed or squeezed material, giving it a realistic, soft appearance. A glass bottle with a cork.

Activity 2

A hexagonal prism glass bottle with clean, sharp edges, giving it a modern and elegant appearance. A transparent body that reveals the light-colored perfume inside, emphasizing simplicity and sophistication. A metallic or reflective cap that contrasts with the clear glass and adds a premium feel. The minimalist labeling on the front keeps the design uncluttered while highlighting the brand. The overall compact size and straight lines make it easy to hold and display on a vanity. The design communicates a fresh, youthful, and stylish aesthetic, aligned with the brand’s pop-culture appeal. Modeled using a cube for the bottle body and cylinders for the cap, and a cone for the diamond. Materials were applied to create transparent glass for the body and metallic reflective surface for the cap. The bottle was scaled and aligned carefully to emphasize symmetry, clean edges, and realistic reflections.put a description here or you will lose grades The sunglasses feature polarized lenses that reduce glare and enhance visual clarity. The tortoise shell patterned frame adds a classic, stylish aesthetic. A slim metal bridge and arms provide durability while keeping the design lightweight. The curved lens shape offers full eye coverage and a flattering fit. Ray-Ban sunglasses back view. Ray-Ban sunglasses angled view. Modeled using polygons for the lenses and planes for the frame and arms to construct the basic shape. The bend modifier was applied to the arms to create a natural curve that fits around the ears realistically. The toy is small and collectible, featuring a magenta body with two black spherical hands. Its design is whimsical and playful, with exaggerated cartoon-like proportions. The toy’s body is rounded and smooth, making it easy to hold and manipulate. The black sphere hands contrast sharply with the bright magenta body, adding visual interest. Its compact size makes it suitable for collecting or playing in small spaces. The overall appearance communicates a sense of fun, personality, and character, appealing to children and collectors. Modeled using the sculpt tool to shape the magenta body, emphasizing smooth, rounded forms. The black spherical hands were separate and not shaped by the modelling tool.

Material Workshop 1

Finished glass product from the glass studio as a part of the Honours Bachelor of Craft and Design. Different woods organized for the furniture making studio as a part of the Honours Bachelor of Craft and Design. Glaze swatches for the ceramic studio as a part of the Honours Bachelor of Craft and Design.

Material Workshop 2

The surface of a wood plank is grainy and slightly uneven, with visible lines, knots, and natural imperfections that give it a tactile, organic feel. The tile has a matte, non-reflective surface with subtle veining patterns that give it a natural, stone-like appearance and add visual depth and interest. A shell’s texture is rigid yet slightly curved, with ridges, grooves, and natural irregularities that create visual and tactile interest.
